Well... my plan WAS to be there... but then I got sick. My apologies. Original
plan was for me to demonstrate IPv6 using a few KVM guests... essentially
running radvd so that hosts can use the neighbor discovery method of obtaining
an IPv6 address... running two stacks, and IPv6 and an IPv4. This works quite
nicely and is my best recommended way of adding IPv6 to a network. I planned to
at least discuss DHCPv6 a bit... but even so, it's still not fully baked and
there are multiple implementations, but most will feel more comfortable with it
since that might allow you to have extra control of certain elements (DHCP
always did more than just give out an IP).
On the Windows side of the fence (yep... there's always Windows... like it or
not), just be aware that unlike Linux, where you can sit on the two stacks and
for example, get DNS via IPv4 even for IPv6 lookups... with Windows, you need to
make sure that there is an IPv6 side defined on the listening side of your DNS
since Windows makes the assumption that their IPv6 stack has to get DNS via and
IPv6 address. Just something to note.
Anyway... sorry I can't make it this month... house is full of sick people...
Agenda:
9am - whenever - Linux Installation Project
10am - 11am - Beginning Linux
11am - 12:30p - Main Presentation (???)
I'll put out a request for a presenter on the discuss list for the Main part...
Regards,
Christopher
