I know this might not be what you are looking for, but if you can get
cdrecord to work you could follow the instructions under

--4.7. Is it possible to make a 1:1 copy of a data CD?"

under the cd-writing-howto. simply enough you just use /dev/othercdrom
as the input file. however, I have tried this, and if your read only
cdrom is in anyway flaky, I wouldnt attempt this unless *perhaps* you
are writing to a rewritable because if the ro-cdrom times out for too
long, you will have to start all over in writing (with a perfectly
ruined writable cdrom if not
rewritable).

Everything ends badly. Otherwise it wouldn't end.
