Well,

I haven't run lmbench, but I have run the "old" Byte Unix BenchMark on 
Intel x86 boxes running Win98 and Linux and on UltraSPARCs (300Mhz Ultra II and a 360 Mhz Ultra 60). The summary is that the 450 Mhz x86 was ~ 2x faster
than the Ultra 60. Unfortunately, the results are on computers that are
detached from the external world... I may attempt to do the lmbench runs
later.
