Yes, it is a ps/2 mouse and the XF86Config file "thinks" it is too.

    Section "Pointer"
        Protocol    "PS/2"
        Device      "/dev/mouse"

And it's a symlink to /dev/psaux

    lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     root            5 Aug  1 13:37 mouse -> psaux
