For some years, I've been nursing a wild idea that might just be a COOL
thing for NTLUG to do on Linux Demo day.
I had the idea to try to write an entire computer game in 24 hours - to
establish some kind of record with the Guinness Book of Records - then
to sell it for charity (some kind of shareware deal maybe).
It would take a team of perhaps five or six people - programmers,
an artist or two and a musician - plus some supporters for moral
support and brewing the coffee.
This could be the kind of thing that a store would sponsor too.
I bet we could get local TV coverage too.
Obviously, it would have to be pre-planned to death with everyone
knowing what they'd have to write in advance. We'd need to set up
a mini-network for the participants with a handful of machines to
do the work on.
I think this is quite do-able.
What does everyone think?
