Yeah, we do. It's modest but it adds up. It helps that lots of
NTLUGGERs, and there are about 1,500 of us now, do in fact try to buy
from NTLUG, which is a good thing for the group and its members.

My original idea for selling CDs was simply to have *something else to
do* at our Super Saturday booth so someone might actually stop buy and
talk to us about Linux. iirc, we started selling CDs a month or two
before we started hitting the Linux Installation Project heavily; in
any event, we were selling them well before the LIP was heavily
trafficked.

At some point we got to be pretty well-known for selling Linux very
cheaply and for installing Linux on PCs for gratis. Thus our booth was
at times *very* popular, and I know that NTLUG members talked to
probably on the order of 5,000 people about Linux during the time we
were at the Infomart.

We also should note, even in such a limited way, that NTLUG selling
CDs so cheaply, and yet still making a modest profit on each one, is
made possible almost solely by the good people, first, at Linux
Systems Labs in Michigan, iirc, and the good people at
LinuxCentral.com. Of particular note is Brad Glonka who sold us most
of our CDs while we were at the Infomart and from whom, I think, Rick
Cook is still buying CDs today.

Best,
Kendall Clark

PS--500 NTLUG Triva Bonus Points if you know the longest distance
anyone ever drove to bring their computer to NTLUG's booth for a Linux
installation.
