Hmmm, It may be that the cable company is still in the "process" of
converting their network to DHCP, but not quite there yet. My IP was
supposed to be dynamic as well. But I was set up with a static. :-)
In other words, they are configuring the clients so that when they
actually do implement DHCP, your already there. In the mean time, they
have the DHCP expiration date set to some date far far in the future, or
possibly, never.
Purely speculation. But, who knows.
