[NTLUG:Discuss] cross-compile to vxworks (m68k) from linux

All,

A quite a bit different question from all the talk about
Linux Demo Day.

Basically I have a device which runs vxworks. It contains
a Motorola 68xxx chip. I'd like to do some programming for
this in my spare time, but I don't have the cash to pay
Wind River (http://www.windriver.com) for the full development
environment. Even if I could I don't believe it would run under
Linux.

Is there *any* way to compile binaries (from C code) to
run on this target? I know that you can cross compile
to an m68k target, but I have a feeling there is more
to it than this. Any pointers to information, or any
leads at all would be much appreciated. I'm very knew
to cross-compiling, etc..., but I'm not new to C.

I suppose I could write everything in assembly, but I
*really* don't want to do that.

If I'm SOL on this then so be it. Surely someone knows
whether this is even possible or not.
