I really enjoyed the meeting today. Really glad I went, and nice to see
I'm on the right track with Samba, Ray and Chris. Both presentations were
very good.

Just wanted to repeat to everyone our needs:

Many of these can be student projects, I need to work with my Pre-AP class.

1) Get the machines that were working back or on the network around the
school building. I know of quite a few that need setting up and some
teacher education. Some are Macs, some are PCs. An additional need,
again non Linux related, for who know Mac. We purchased a G3 and a HP 2000
series laser printer using district recommendations. None of us involved
in the purchase at the local level knew that the Mac would not have local
talk. So far the best possible solution appears a kit for HP printers,
that will provide USB to Centronics connectively designed for HP Deskjets.
Will that work?

2) Get mice and keyboards for the systems we've installed and still need
installed. May need some power cables too. Several people have
suggestions for low cost vendors?

3) Get the printers connected and working that were donated from the IRS.

4) Get the additional systems in my room installed and distributed.

We're going to have a technology training day sometime in October. I THINK
I might be responsible for this, but I haven't been told. I figure I
better ask. If so, it would be lovely to get some of you out for that.

Of our problems with having teacher workshops dealing with computers is
that my teachers are not comfortable with showing their level of computer
incompetence to the colleagues. They preceive that everyone else knows
more and convincing them that isn't true, isn't easy.
