Stephen Denny quite correctly observed that this may have some dangers to
them along with the possible benefits.
Quite a lot of the money they get is effectively from the vendors to get
their products suitably displayed. Giving Linux some "limelight" for free
does not serve the Other Operating System Vendors.
The "Stripling and Cox" option has the merit that they are not likely
so strongly tied to "Vendors Whose Names Start With M."
And I certainly agree with the Steve Baker's suggestion that it might be
a good idea to make NTLUG leaflets available at Fry's, even if they're
not interested in anyone doing demos...
A crate of leaflets might reap great rewards for the community, if someone
with suitable graphic skills, and a clear vision of what needs to fit
onto a sheet of paper, is prepared to volunteer to help produce such.
This might be an argument for there to be a "Publicity Committee."
