BTW,

Most important attribute of running Linux and high-bandwidth modem is to
request the following items from your high-bandwidth provider:

1.  Declare that you're running our prestigious Linux O/S.
2.  External Modem (forget the internal ones, they are exactly like winmodem:
they need to download firmware)
3.  Static IP, if you're running a server (I prefer static always.  DHCP sucks
for DNS, yea yea there's dynamicDNS...)
4.  Review their Acceptable User Policy (AUP) to your satisfaction.
5.  Always use credit card to cover stupid billing behaviour on provider's
part.
