Since I'm breaking down and using the disks as udma 33 for installation, I
can
report that you do in fact have to switch cables.

Of course, if your OS already recognizes the udma 66 controller, then it
would
also work OK as a standard IDE interface, I'm sure (since it's supposed to
be
backwards compatible). But the cable can't be used on a standard IDE
controller, which is what you need if the 66 controller is invisible.
