Who is the manufacture of the machine? What is the model? Since you

No, you can NOT use Intel based programs on an R6000 machine. You need
to have programs that are compiled for the R6000. (Again, this is my
guess of what you have; if you have something different, then my answer
may change.) There are ports of the Linux kernel and GNU utilities to:
Intel, Sparc, Alpha, MacIntosh (M68K), and PowerPC. (If you have the
last, you can accomplish your goal.) Outside of those, I don't think
you'll be able to do what you want.
