[NTLUG:Discuss] A general UNIX question

Hi everyone. 
I am sorry if this question is not directly LINUX related, a pointer to the
right document/place is greatly appreciated.
We have SUN machines and it has CDE as its default desktop. I want to
install KDE and allow users to choose 
between these two when they login (that might be on the console, Xterminal
or even in NT using EXCEED). Is that easy to do? (I can gain root access).
If anyone could direct me to the relevant documents, I would greatly
appreciate it.
