[NTLUG:Discuss] Study Group...

Chris Cox gave a thoughtful and worthwhile opinion
regarding the advantages of taking an active role in
NTLUG rather than spending the energy of forming a new
group. He seems to think this will drain member from
the main body.

>From the start of the discussions, a number of us have
made it clear that we would like additional, organized
sessions that are convenient for those in the Western
part of the DFW area. However, most have also made it
completely clear that their involvement with this new
group would be conditioned upon NOT competing with
NTLUG. I, for one, fully intend to stay with NTLUG and
participate in the new group, too. One hour a month of
a "newbies' group" just isn't enough for me--there's
too much to learn. So, even though Ray is doing a
great job, there are many areas to cover and only so
much that can be done in an hour.

In the absence of SIGs, this seems to me to be a good
working alternative. All are invited to attend both
groups. Should there develop any kind of "flame war"
on the part of those who would rather argue than work
constructively, it would be too bad for everyone.

Meanwhile, volunteering to work more actively within
the NTLUG organization is a great idea. When I am able
to know what my schedule will be as it changes soon, I
shall attempt to do just that.
