If you have an idea that you think you could turn into a presentation
please let me know. I will gladly help you in the creation if you need
supplies, etc. Also, realize that we usually have an overhead projector
in the meeting room.....laptops/computers are not needed to do a presentation.
Ideas for presentations:
1. Security Issues: Isolation from others on a network. For example, the
popularity of cable modems has risen to much concern over security.
2. Xfree86 Configuration: An oldie topic which is due for a presentation.
3. ISA PnP Peripheral Configuration: For example, sound boards. There's
still a lot of ISA boards.
4. Printer Setup: From /etc/printcaps to filters....lots of topics here.
5. Faxing from home: I don't think we've had anyone do a presentation
on this.
Feel free to send me ideas for "special guests" that you would like
to see. While we can't promise that we'll be able to get everyone's
favorite....I'm often surprised at how many people love to speak
in the Dallas area (the 2nd Silicon Valley).
Also, consider presentations for the Beginner's Linux group headed up
by Ray Foley. If you zap me something appropriate....I'll gladly forward
it onto Ray. Of course, you can contact Ray directly at rmfcons at airmail.net.
Likewise, you may also consider "deeper" technical presentations which could
be about programming, advanced administration or new technologies relevant
to the Linux community.
And remember, anything Linux related can make for a good presentation!!
Regards,
Chris
