 rerun fdisk /mbr


 re-install, with this layout

partition  size          mounted as
/dev/hda1  16 megabytes  /boot
/dev/hda2  128megabytes  swap
/dev/hda3  rest of disk  /     

  lilo uses bios to boot and can't handle cylinder numbers above 1024, if
your bios uses older methodology to handle cylinders.
