You seem to have missed telling your x-server to use the font server. Also, I
don't believe that version of xfs does truetype. Get xfstt or the truetype
server. For xfstt (configured to port 7101), I added this line in XF86Config:

FontPath "inet/127.0.0.1:7101"

You will see all the enabled fonts with the Gnome Font Selecter off the Gnome
button -> Utilities.

Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] True Type fonts?

Hi all:

Perhaps someone can tell me how to display/select TrueType fonts in RH6.0.
I have:
     1. installed some ttf's in /usr/share/fonts/ttf.
     2. ran ttmkfdir > fonts.scale
     3. ran mkfontdir
     4. restarted the os/xfs

How do you know that the fonts are installed properly and how do you get
netscape(insert your favorite app here) to recognize the new fonts.

When I run xfontsel, I don't seem to get the fonts. Maybe they are listed
beyond the boudaries of the screen?

Also, lastly, I would like to know if the fonts are displayed differently in
X than in Windoze, because when I select Times New Roman it looks kind of
jagged/rough?

Thanks,

Will Senn
