[NTLUG:Discuss] VLUG Sends Sizable Donation to FSF...

It appears that if NTLUG sends any sizable grouped donations to the FSF,
it won't be the first. The Vancouver LUG <http://www.linux.bc.ca/> just
announced that they sent $650 USD to the FSF.

This is, of course, Texas, and we think bigger here :-).

To show our appreciation to the Free Software Foundation for their
efforts in coordinating the development of free software, the Vancouver
GNU/Linux Users Group (http://www.linux.bc.ca/) recently made a donation
of US$650. (~CDN$960.)

Local companies (Coalescent Technologies and Faximum Software) also
joined in with contributions of their own, raising the combined total to
US$1350. (~CDN$2000.)

A search through the ThankGNUS page

 http://www.gnu.org/thankgnus/thankgnus.html

doesn't show many other LUG's.

Since the FSF has played a pivotal role in the evolution of Linux, we
encourage other LUG's to follow through with donations of their own. Of
course, donations to other groups which develop free software (e.g., The
XFree86 Project http://www.xfree86.org/donations.html) are just as
acceptable.
