Hello All,

My freind followed my suggestion to enable tcp wrappers on his gateway
mahcine. He uses diald for a ppp conection to the Internet.

He is now experiencing a slight problem with printing accros his
network.

I have never set up or used printing on a Linux machine. My freind has
succesfuly printed with his current configuration until recently.

Can anyone offer a possible solution the problem below?

Thanks,
Kelly

The Problem: ----------------------------------------------

   When I altered machine1's /etc/hosts.{allow,deny} files as you
suggested, remote printing from machine2 to the print server, machine1,
quit working.  lpq says:

    $ lpq
    machine2: waiting for queue to be enabled on machine1

    machine1: lpd: photo: Your host does not have line printer access

machine1:/etc/hosts.* files are:

    $ cat /etc/hosts.deny
    ALL: ALL

    $ cat /etc/hosts.allow
    ALL: 192.168.1.

machine1 is 192.168.1.1 and machine2 is 192.168.1.2.  Do I have to
explicitly allow remote connections to lpd on machine1? If so, how?

Thanks again,

Kelly
