[NTLUG:Discuss] NTLUG Discuss -- Laser Toner Commercial Email/ Ads

	Hello to all --

	I'm unable to insert this reply into the thread, because I deleted
(sorry -- my mistake) the prior messages from my mail/ news program.  

	The question was whether there were some laws which specifically cover
the posting the laser toner people are doing to the NTLUG Discuss list.

	I am hesitant to "broadcast" legal advice/ discussion on the Discuss
list.  If anyone wants to follow-up, you could write me privately.  I'll
just say that I believe the best remedy might be the practical one -- I
think Kendall mentioned it in one of his posts:  Limiting posting to
subscribers, and/ or subscribed email addresses.  The downside:  It might
gripe off some subscribers;  The upside, especially since this is a
subscription list, is possibly eliminating/ reducing spam.  Since it is a
subscription list, perhaps that all fits together.

	It does seem like there has been very little spam on this list.  In the
5 months or so I've been subscribing, the laser toner guys are the only
ones of this type that I recall.  (Of course, I don't know how much other
junk the spam filters have been flushing out, before ever getting to the
Discuss list.)
