  Yes, the problem could be with your bios.  Most older bioses that were
initially upgraded to handle large drives could only handle 8 gigabyte
drives maximum.

  You may be able to put together a 2 or 3 gigabyte partition, install
SUSE, and then later partition the rest, if linux's fdisk can see the
the large hard drive (it should).

  Make sure you have LBA turned on in your bios.
