It has been correctly observed that it would be quite *in*appropriate
to use this as an opportunity to heckle.
A not-ludicrously-inappropriate approach would be along the lines of
finding a location where demos could be given. It appears that we
have some committment as to availability of a "tricked-out" machine
that hopefully can show off interesting things.
1. That may be a reasonable initial plan, which is *the* critical
resource.
2. The second critical thing is to have a location. Note that with
a mere month to go, and with the fact that companies have to schedule
things with a strange concept known as "lead time," there needs to be
some indication of location right away.
3. Third critical resource? People willing to be at that location.
4. Fourth on the list might be to have some publicity material. A
thought would be some form of flyer, providing some links to web
info on Linux, as well as to indicate how to get at some local
resources such as NTLUG and the Linux Installation Project. Given
a feasible set of resources under [1-3], it may be a reasonable
idea for NTLUG to provide "corporate" assistance with this.
5. "Nice to have" might be some CDs to give away. An *interesting*
approach might be thus...
- I suspect that NTLUG could arrange for fairly favorable
pricing of CDs.
- Putting on my treasurerly hat for a moment, a decent guarantee of
committment on the part of participants could be for those that
are interested in this happening to pay some portion of the costs.
6. Someone needs to be willing and able to coordinate the matter.
Being two days before the February NTLUG meeting, it may prove challenging
to get coordination from those that are preparing for that meeting.
#6 perhaps needs to be #0, the predecessor to the rest...
The problem encountered last time was an attempt to get a bit *too*
fancy too quickly. Given a mere month's notice, an attempt to get
terribly ambitious is likely to turn out badly. I would suggest keeping
plans as simple as possible.

It is interesting to note that before the advent of Microsoft Windows,
`GPF' was better known for its usage in plumbing: "Gallons Per Flush"
