It's not done by sendmail - most mailers will pick up a file
in your home directory called '.signature' and append it to
each outgoing mail from that user.  Netscape mail has a
configuration option to set the signature.  *SOME* mailers
also allow a '.lsignature' (IIRC) file for "local" mail
(so you can have silly signatures go to your coworkers
and boring serious signatures for outsiders).  Dunno how
they define "local" in this context though.
