I think it's on topic. Like the ABC News article said:

"Warburg analyst Charles Wolf agreed that positive comments about Linux
could steal Microsoft's momentum..."A lot of the 'dot-com' small
companies are jumping on it because it's cheap and works...it is a
negative to Microsoft in that it takes away from its ability to take
share in the small-business space."

I don't agree with this guy's term "cheap"; very bad choice of words.
An inexpensive OS, (with SQL server, web server, tools, etc., etc., etc.,
) yes. I am a small business, myself; it's persuasive to me -- Low
cost, and reliability.

And hopefully, no one missed the cite by Linux Today
( http://linuxtoday.com/stories/16593.html )
to the article titled "Somebody Call An Exterminator" on ZDNet (!!) at:
 ),
which said in part, quoting ZDNet:

" 'Our customers do not want us to sell them products with over 63,000
potential known defects'....stated one of Microsoft's Windows development
leaders, Marc Lucovsky, in the memo. 'How many of you would spend $500 on
a piece of software with over 63,000 potential known defects?'
.....
"According to the Microsoft memo, the Windows 2000 source-code base
contains:
.....
"Overall, there are more than 65,000 'potential issues' that could emerge
as problems, as discovered by Microsoft's Prefix tool. Microsoft is
estimating that 28,000 of these are likely to be 'real' problems..."
