Both MadHat and Greg offer some very good advice. I suggest that you
try to follow it a closely as you can.

As an M$ convert I know how confusing this new OS can be. So with that,
I would like to suggest a book to augment Greg and MadHat's words of
wisdom.

It's called "UNIX for the MS-DOS User" by Kenneth Pugh, ISBN:
0-13-146077-3. It helped me learn the basic commands in the Unix/Linux
command line environment. Since I know what I want to do, and how to do
it in DOS, I can look up the Unix/Linux equivalent in this book and move
along.

HTH,
Kelly
