When you installed OL 2.3, did you tell it to place LILO on the MBR (Master Boot
Record) on the first sector of your Linux partition? Also, when you boot up,
does your machine come up with an LI prompt rather than a LILO prompt?

If you installed LILO on the MBR and are getting the LI prompt rather than LILO
do this:

1) boot off the floppy as you are doing now
2) edit /etc/lilo.conf with the word "linear" (no quotes) on a line by itself
above your label information.
3) run /sbin/lilo
4) reboot

This has solved my LI problem many a time.
