Jeff,

To be honest I took the SMC card they gave me and put it up on the
shelf and used an old 3c509B card.  I've been told the SMC works but
you have to boot the system with dos and then use the config utility
that came with the NIC.  It the one guilty secret area about Linux
networking that I hate -- most NIC use DOS utilities to config the
card.
