I picked up Corel WordPerfect for Linux then other day for $20, which doesn't seem to bad
to me. It says it can read Word files; I have yet to install it.
I have a love/hate relationship with StarOffice. I *really* appreciate their work in
getting it on the Linux platform, and it does work reasonablely well; but as others have
pointed out, it's a real resource hog! So yeh, SO will be used for Excel & the ocassional
PowerPoint file only, and even then usually only long enough to convert the data into
something I can use outside of SO.
