Thanks for the tip. Actually, since I installed just about everything with
Suse 6.3, Abi Word may already be installed on my system. I'll give it a
try.
There is one other possibility relating to the freeze-up problem. Suse
installs so much stuff if you choose it in the install process and some of
the apps seem to have daemons running. I notice a sluggish response
sometimes in terminal windows (keystrokes not recognized when starting to
type in a window). Netscape startup is far more sluggish than it is with
other distributions. I may end up switching to Mandrake 7.1 if problems
persist.

If you just need to do word Docs, and not excel, I would recommend Abi
Word... much faster and does fine on Word Docs...
