I'm in SW Ft. Worth and until last week I was running with a static
ip configuration, but I think they switched to dhcp and that was
a part of my problems. I'm running slackware 4.0, now with the
dhcp client software. It works well, and the ip address returned
is still my old static ip.
There are many help pages available, I think you'll find this one
very helpful. It is for Charter at home linux customers with RH.
http://24.5.101.81/Linux/ (keep trying the link, it does work, just not 24/7)
