[NTLUG:Discuss] Having trouble setting up local printer

Hey all,

I was trying to setup a local printer this morning and kept getting the
followin gerror in my messages file:

kernel: lp: driver loaded but no devices found

I was using printtool on RH 6.1 (kernel 2.2.12-20). It was giving me
errors that it could not autodetect /dev/lp0, /dev/lp1, or /dev/lp2.

I took a look in the /dev/ directory and lp0 - lp2 do exist. I then
went and took a look in the KDE control center and could not find an
interrupt for the parallel port. It should be interrupt 7 (according to
Windoze - I have a dual boot system) but my soundblaster is on that
interrupt in Linux.

I guess my question is: How do I assign my parallel port to a new
interrupt in Linux?

TIA,
Alton Pouncey
