You know, I generally agree with the above, Brian, and with most all of
your entire post. I've also thought some more about my post last night
about "snippish" stuff on the list.

I'm not real interested in reading someone's running snipes, back and
forth, on a topic; At the same time, (1.) I can (and we all can) hit
"delete", and go on to the next one, really easily; and (2.) It is -- at
least, sometimes -- robust discussion, and I generally think people ought
to have the freedom, even to argue on the list, and to be petulant/
difficult/ snippish, I suppose. We all have the freedom to do stupid
things in public. (Goodness knows, I've certainly done that last thing,
myself, on more than 1 occasion -- whether on this list, or elsewhere.)

	Note:  I am *not* saying anyone has done "stupid" things on the list;
this is just philosophy I'm stating, now. Still, I also think there's a
place for each one of us to moderate our own selves, and our posts,
before we post them; which was the point of what I said last night. And,
that fits in with your item 1, above, "be nice to each other".

Idea: Should we focus on needing guidelines; or is the issue how
actively the moderator ought to moderate? Please note: I **do not**
mean any criticism of the guys who have been moderating the last few
months. I think this is a great list, and those guys are a big part of
the reason why; Running the thing, listening to complaints, getting
stuff done. My email accounts got mucked up last week, and I had to
write the ListAdmin to change over my subscriptions to one of the NTLUG
lists. We owe them, all of us.
