We're running the 2.0.36 kernel on about 500 machines and
it is extremely stable.

We run the same SMP kernel on uniprocessor and dual-CPU machines
with no problem.  Our present kernel was built on a 
single processor machine and then copies to all other servers,
including machines with a dual CPU.
