I helped a friend get his RedHat 5.2 box set up on SW Bell's
DSL service just last week. When he was making the arrangements
with them, they told him several times that the installer
*would* be able to set it up on a Linux box. Needless to say,
they were lying thru their teeth! The installer had a Kingston
KNE30 NIC and a Windoze/Mac driver install disk. Once the
installer got the DLS "modem" to sync up, my friend told the
guy to leave!
When I got there the biggest problem that I had was that the
box for the NIC was marked KNE100TX but contained a KNE30! I
knew how to set up the 100 under Linux but not the 30....
Fortunatly I had brought a 3Comm 3c905B Cyclone with me
and that is what we connected to the DSL "modem".
I have since found the following Linux set up instructions
for the KNE30, so I *may* get my 3Comm card back eventually!

SW Bell uses DHCP, but it was easy to set up. Just make sure that
/etc/sysconfig//network-scripts/ifcfg-ethX has this in it:
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
I also set up their name servers in /etc/resolv/conf:
nameserver 151.164.1.8
nameserver 151.164.1.7
I don't know if this was necessary but I did it anyway.
Good Luck,
George
