for some reason I cant figure
the addon cmd648 card shows up as third & fourth ide

the kernel sees it as ide0&1

I had to swap my drives' connections treating the addon as the onboard
in order to get the kernel to boot because it kept  halting when it could not mount the partitions in fstab due to the fact that /dev/hda had become /dev/hde before I swapped the cables this worked fine for about 
4 hours till my satisfaction evaporated
and trouble precipitated

I cant find anything listed about respawning too fast in any place I know to look

please help...I do not like being stuck in windows
