If you installed the new kernel, you should see under /lib/modules two
different directories. One is for the older linux kernel, one is for the
new one. there is probably also a link of "linux" to the newest directory
installed. try copying (not moving) the alsa driver from its place in the
old kernel's directory to the same place in the new kernel's directory.
