well here I am now...
all I have mentioned with hanging and simply not seeing the ram happens when
I boot off the harddrive

but if I use the floppy and tell it "mem=192m" it all comes to life without
a complaint.
is this a buggy ide controller?


PS
does anyone know how much ram the AladinV chipset caches?
