If your talking about Wine its a hit and miss situation on compatible MS
Win9x programs. Some work some don't and I found it a pain in the a**
to install. I played with VMWare long enough to be sold, if my cpu was
faster and I had more ram. The machine I tested on was a 233Mhz AMD k6
with 64M ECC SDRAM. I knew going in that I was under powered for it and
that's why I just got a trial license. I agree that if your going to
run Windows once a year its not a cost effective solution. My situation
is that I need Win9x for my accounting, printer configuration support,
UPS support, the occasional not available Linux Netscape plugin, and a
couple of household apps. I don't want to reboot if I don't have to and
this gets me there at a reasonable cost.
