Probably the most relevant one these days is DocBook. See
<http://docbook.org> or <http://nwalsh.com/>
The Linux Documentation Project is in the process of migrating from
"linuxdoc", based on the old "azerty" DTD, to DocBook.
It would be in good taste, although not forcibly necessary, to "tidy"
the HTML using Dave Raggett's "tidy" utility. (Head to www.google.com,
and type "tidy" as the search criterion. It'll take you to the right
place...)
