It very well could be a kernel problem. Even if you are using a root
priviledged program, you shouldn't be able to lock the system like that.
The kernel guys would love to have any information you can throw at them
about this issue. At least report the lockup if nothing else. They
shouldn't expect too much--that's why they are the kernel hackers and
not us. :) There is a REPORTING-BUGS file in the root directory of
your kernel sources. If you can follow that and supply as much detail
as you can, I'm sure they would appreciate your report. That makes 4
cents now... 8)
