I don't think I recall exactly the article you mention. Idea: research
the NTLUG list archives, off of the NTLUG mail list admin page; The URL
may be (not positive, but maybe):
http://www.ntlug.org/forums/index.html
Find the link to the NTLUG Discuss archives page.
Further: In addition to the suggestion today by Lee (I'm not familiar
with the article he cited), here are 2, that I stored on my own disk.
(1.) Linux Today recently changed site design/ formats/ etc. Thus, URL
might have changed. URL I have is:
http://linuxtoday.com/stories/10912.html
In case you need to search for it on LT's site, following is brief
excerpt of top of article:
"Rant Mode Equals One: Linux Reality Versus Microsoft Myth" Oct 9, 1999,
14:57 UTC (48 Talkbacks) By Paul Ferris, Staff Writer
(2.) An article I thought was pretty good, although not specifically/
directly a reply to M$ FUD/ "myths". It's written by an EDS fellow in
Australia/ New Zealand.
It's been awhile since I read it. IIRC, it had some *negative*
discussion re Linux, but mostly, overall, seemed to me to be quite
positive/ fair. URL I have is:
http://www.osopinion.com/Opinions/GaneshCPrasad/GaneshCPrasad2.html
Note: his article also said you could download a complete copy, in zip
format (rather lengthy article), from:
http://www.osopinion.com/Opinions/GaneshCPrasad/Mgr's-Guide-to-Linux.zip
If you have to search for it on OSOpinion's site, following is brief
reprint of article top:
"The Practical Manager's Guide to Linux
Can you profitably use Linux in your organisation?
"An osOpinion.com column
Authored by: "Ganesh C. Prasad"
"Synopsis:
"This document on Linux is unique in that it speaks the language of
business, from the viewpoint of a corporate user. It addresses the issues
managers want to talk about, -- cost savings, ease of use, support,
uptime, productivity, vendor independence, staffing and training, --
backed up by detailed references. You may or may not decide to use Linux
after reading it, but you will certainly come away with a better
understanding of the options that Linux now gives you."
Finally, Kelly -- if you can't find either/ both, email me offlist, and
will be pleased to send copies of each, from my disk. HTH.
