There _is_ a document in the docs tree that suggests what is needed
to get GnuCash installed on SuSE.

Look, in your source tree, at:
   doc/SuSE-6.3.txt

It lists what packages will need to be installed; it does indicate
that stuff needs to be added that you'll likely need to get from
the SuSE 6.3 package list.

I'm running GnuCash atop Debian, and see no such library there.

I don't this is likely to be of much assistance; you should instead
look to the doc file described above that indicates the set of SuSE
packages for GNOME that need to be installed. That is almost certainly
going to be the easiest way to cope with this. Second easiest might
be to look at the Helix GNOME release, and look for analagous
packages for SuSE at the <http://www.helixcode.com/> web site.

That still may leave some inconvenience in trying to retrofit to
SuSE 6.1. This maybe SuSE's sign that you need to upgrade to
"6.newer."

[Does it irritate anyone else that so many Linux systems are
nearly as slavishly dependent on regular version upgrades as is true
for the moves between non-interoperable versions of MS Office? Off
the soapbox...]
