I think you have a typo here.  I'd swear I have a Sony CDU55S in this
machine (but I'd have to reboot to verify which isn't going to happen
just now. :-)  It is a 2x SCSI-2 device (note the S on the end). 
Since you didn't list a SCSI adaptor, are you sure that's the right
model number?  It's been a good drive; I've had it for 5-6 years,
IIRC.
