No - don't use the IPS - do this
set eth0:0 to the specified stuff gateway broadcast netmask etc.
get ipmasqurade
set eth0:1 to be 192.168.1.1
set the IPs of the local machines to hit 192.168.1.1 as the server
set the ips of the local machines in /etc/hosts to be within the 192.168.1.*
block
if you want file sharing on the server setup and configure samba to allow
anything within the 192.168.1.* block
This way you set all traffic behind the firewall with private ips and still
have your extra ips to do something else with
Key to remember is that when you establish a computer with a public IP it is
wide open to the world
