[NTLUG:Discuss] Help with postfix

I have tried to set up sendmail, and gave up. I tried to set up qmail
and found the docs obtuse. I am trying to setup postfix and the docs say
you only need a couple of things to get it working. I have configured a
mail client to send to the IP address of the mail server and I get an
error 501 domain must exist. Since I am using an IP I don't understand
the error.

I'm usually pretty quick but MTAs and email servers in general seem to
have gotten the better of me. If some one is willing to help I would
appreciate an off list tutor. If we can get it together for me we should
have something to post as a tutorial for others with the same problem.
