I don't have any experience with this card especially, but I know the error. 
The problem may be card-independent. Maybe you can try the following:

Configure the card using netconf (I like that tool, please don't use 
linuxconf: there was something wrong with the netconf-module of linuxconf; 
this is fixed but maybe you don't have the fixed version) and set the values 
to "save" numbers. With "save" I mean something like 192.168.0.x as IP and 
255.255.255.0 as your mask. Make sure you don't have two eth0's (this card 
IS an ethernetcard, I hope?;-)) set (this can be a reason for the output you 
have). Then restart the network using the following command:
	/etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart
This restarts the network. Take a look to the situation with the command 
ifconfig. If everything seems to be OK, try to set the values to the values 
you need and look whether they still work. If not, I'll think of other 
reasons...
