The FA310TX is the actual card. The trailing "C" denotes the box
contains the "C"able.

It is the "Tulip" driver that it needs. My /etc/conf.modules contains
only the line

alias eth0 tulip

After installing in my RedHat 6.2 box, Kudzu detected and installed it,
without even a reboot. (leftover expectations from my windows days)

Maybe a conflicting IRQ or memory address, or possibly a network
configuration problem. You might try.... not allowing the card to
initialize on boot, but load it as a module after you have booted and
logged in. RedHat does this thru the RP3 PPP & network manager.

I use this configuration with my DSL service, to avoid being connected,
if and when I dont want to be.

Sorry I couldnt be of more help, but if you have more info to provide,
I will try. I will say that the card works great under RH.
