Just for historical raisins...
The #! syntax is relatively new to *ix. In the ancient days of the
System V vs. BSD scripts which had a "#" as the very first character
were interpreted as csh scripts. A common technique by Bourne shell
programmers was to use ":" as the first character on their scripts,
":" has other interesting uses vs. "#" as a "comment" delimeter,
":" lines get evaluated.
Pardon the history...
