When I have to write indepth documentation, I usually use Lyx.  It's a Desktop
Publishing Tool.  You can have it save to LaTeX, and it will also translate
that into Postscript.  I rarely have trouble with running its output through
latex2html (assuming one uses the latest version, the earlier version had a
lot of trouble).
